The waitress brought all of our food out at once, which was problematic given our small table with limited space. The soup was delicious and the scones were quite good as well, while the sandwiches were fairly standard. However, all the desserts were excessively sweet! I observed that the other table was served their soup and scones first, followed by their sandwiches, and then their desserts. They even received a small cake for their birthday celebration. On our end, the waitress checked in with us multiple times to see if we needed anything, but unfortunately, no cake was brought out for my mother. When I inquired about this, she eventually brought out a piece of cake that was just large...
Celebrated my grand daughter's 16th bday here. We were welcomed as we entered and lead to a beautiful table with flowers fine china silverware and more. The two dining rooms were beautiful with multiple chandeliers, antiques, elaborately set tables. The food was fresh and delicious. We had the four course traditional tea service. Our server, Sylvia was a delight and kept our tea cups full of hot delicious tea. I highly recommend you visit for a most memorable experience. We got to meet Gerri and will visit again in the future. I was surprised and delighted tax on meal was less than most other towns and no service fees charges for using my debit card. We booked both rooms to celebrate my wife’s birthday with a bunch of friends and family and had an amazing time. Miranda was so easy to work with and Gerri made it special for everyone. Even the uncles, fathers, and guy friends got into dressing up! The champagne service and food selection were excellent. We’ll definitely be coming back! Vegetarian options: The soups, asparagus, cucumber, and salad options were all vegetarian friendly without special requests Parking: There were some spots up front and a big parking lot behind. I have been bringing my nieces here for the last 12 years and we always receive warm and friendly service from Gerri and Sonia. All of the sweets and savories are freshly prepared on-site and are delicious. The service is on real china and silver, and there is an assortment of tea hats to choose from. The ambiance is lovely with classical music playing softly in the background, and the rooms are beautifully decorated. I had the worst high tea experience ever. There was a lack of explanation about the menu, and the service felt like it was managed by high school students. We were crammed into a table meant for two, with six overcrowded chairs. No one greeted us when we arrived; we were simply directed to our seats.
I appreciated the atmosphere of the restaurant, but the food was only mediocre. It would have been nice to have a selection of teas and teapots available at the table, so we wouldn't have to keep requesting more tea. Unfortunately, it doesn't measure up to the high teas offered in downtown Chicago.
