I made a reservation here a month in advance for my wife’s birthday. I mentioned that to the gentleman on the phone. The moment we walked in the host immediately said happy birthday and seated us towards the front beside the window. Our waiter came shortly and also wished my wife a happy birthday. My wife likes sweet wine and so she ordered the Riesling. I really hope Highlands reopens to the public soon! You can tell a lot about a restaurant by how well they execute the basics, and the best dish I've ever had in my 58 years was their heirloom tomato salad. It's been years since I last had it, but I can still remember the incredible taste - sliced heirloom tomatoes, a sprinkle of salt and pepper, and a light vinaigrette drizzle. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water! Despite dining at many James Beard award-winning restaurants across the US, I always come back to this dish as my favorite. While Highlands is closed, I'll continue to enjoy meals at Chez FonFon's next door. Please reopen soon, Highlands!
Fantastic culinary experience. The menu was exciting, quite difficult to narrow my decisions! The service was absolutely no matter, our server knew the menu inside and outside and was very accommodating. I finally chose the fried seafood starter (red snaps, shrimps, oysters), who took me to the cloud nine and the swordfish steak for my head. The swordfish was just as perfect haha. The only problem my wife and I had was the background noise (speaking/etc) was a boring roar. Not really a peaceful environment, but it was a Saturday dinner. Would have been a little quieter, but wouldn't make a star.
ok, I'm a few days in town and all locals are like they have to try this place, it's the best restaurant. but then I am from chicago, one of the biggest foodie town, so sure I will try. omg this place was good. I was shocked to find here a restaurant with this type of selection and service with its trips. I have eaten in many Michelin restaurants, and this place deserves one. stacy helped me out and his recommendations were on point. if they do not eat here, then their journey to birmingham is not completed.
I've been here for over 25 years, but as a chef, our days are always the same (Sunday and Monday) so I never came here. At last, dinning here and it has NOT disappointed! Great food, fantastic service and great views. I wish I was dressed better. We're coming back!

I was super impressed with all the food from start to finish and service was great! The baked grits did not disappoint and the beef shoulder was amazing. The sweet potato pie with ice cream was a nice dessert.
Best food and service in Birmingham. Service is fantastic. When you want to impress that's the place to go.
