Directly next to it the Rhine flows past, over it the bridge that Baden Württemberg separates from the Palatinate. The former farm, today a noble restaurant with bathroom, Alsace and Palatinate cuisine, is surrounded by meadows, fields with organic cultivation and cow pastures directly on the banks of the Rhine, separated from the dike and a narrow access road. Gave it a 2nd chance. Our first experience a few days after opening was simply chaotic. 1.5 hrs waiting time. People leaving without paying and/or eating etc....Unfortunately not much has changed. It took again more than 1 hour to serve simple dishes such as meat balls, French fries and Spaetzle. A salad was completely missing and the kitchen did not manage to get it out before everybody else finished eating. So you better come because of the great environment, bring a lot of time and most important eat before hand.

The Maxau farm is always worth a visit. An idyllic retreat for the whole family, everyone comes at the expense, good kitchen, beautiful service, beautiful ambience and for the children a beautiful water playground! We had a very nice afternoon at Hofgut Maxau right on the Rhine!

Very interesting place on the Rhine river with good, fresh prepared local Food. Great place for families with a lot of outdoor activities. Very friendly and knowladegable staff which could be a bit better organized.
