We had such high hopes that under new management Hopscotch would step up its game. Alas no. Stopping by into.an almost empty bar on a weekend afternoon we noted the new screens with thankfully muted sound and set ourselves up for what we hoped would be a great reintroduction to our local. A cocktail each later hopes were beginning to wane, but were not extinguished. Unfortunately they soon were. We ordered a glass of wine from a very limited selection of wine "by the glass", and decided to try the "famous" chicken skewers and steak sandwich. The skewers were bland and were accompanied by a coconut dipping sauce which was less than subtle. We would rather have had a shot of Malibu on the side...
I always like it here. Hopscotch seems to strike the right balance, super classy fit-out, good for a mellow after-work drink on a Tuesday eve but also develops a livelier atmosphere for Friday and Saturday nights when it's time to shake the week off. Bevvie selection is interesting with some wine and beer varieties I've never come across at other bars, and staff seem like natural genuine people, quick & attentive but never pushy. I've done the Tuesday quiz night a couple times, it's the "optional" silent type where the questions are projected onto a large screen on the back wall, so you can keep your group convo going with no quizmaster barking at you. Went for drinks and lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Nice venue, menu was varied and reasonably priced, quality was not good however, very disappointing, quite bland rather thrown together and the food which should have been served hot was not. We were the only 4 who appeared to be eating so no excuses in the kitchen. It's a shame as it is in an ideal location and has plenty of parking and should really be making an effort to capture the locals. Needs the management to shake it up a bit and concentrate on the quality of the food and definitely need to address the bar staff who really did not seem too enthusiastic about being there. Just felt like we had to wait and wait and almost wait on ourselves all night. The food was tasty but our waitresses seemed to know nothing about the menu- and considering I had to get up and approach the bar to place orders, I'm not sure what they're job was! There was one other table eating at the bar so it's not like they were too busy to attend us. It was topped off with us requesting what the milky liquid might be (having a pregnant customer at our table- it seemed a legitimate request). Service was really terrible and the food over priced. We thought we'd give Hopscotch Bar a try as it looked really hip from outside and is local to us. The first time we tried it the service was lacking, what I ordered was different to the menu as the substituted of elements without letting me know. Food was average and overpriced.
Second time we tried it there was only another two tables being used. We we left waiting and it was difficult to get the waiter's attention to order. After a while we had had enough and decided to leave and go somewhere else.
Just disappointing.
I visited Hopscotch with a friend for a few drinks. We had a few beers from the tap, but they were a cut above the usual tap beers, including Peroni, the popular Italian beer. You can run a tab and settle at the end of the night, which makes for convenient drinking. The bar had a buzz without being loud. The decor was modernist without being brutal. We decided that we would visit Hop Scotch for another drink in the next few weeks.
New owners but clearly, they have not taken note of why the previous did not travel well. First glass of 'bubbles' $7 each - 2nd - $14. Never assume that because of middle-age we do not note. We do. When queries I was informed that 2nd was 'top shelf' - not good enough. Please, ask. Doubt we will bother to return again. Not happy Jan!!!
Hopscotch is no longer a table service restaurant it has much more or a pub feel to it and is lacking in service. Had to wait a very long time for our meals and they came out sporadically. Food is nice but not worth the wait. Nice for a casual drink.

We visited for the first time and we were only popping in for a quiet drink and a snack. Food was good size and really fresh. Good selection of cocktails and wine by the glass. Will visit again when next in Perth. Good atmosphere too.
Been to Hopscotch a few times and every time has been very impressive. The $10 pizzas on a Sunday night are not only good value but taste amazing! The pork belly and sliders are also mouth watering! Highly recommended!
