After seeing they were featured in Broadsheet Melbourne, I convinced my husband that we should check out our 'backyard ' and try out some of their cocktails. And so we finally made it to Hot Lips and find out for ourselves what the fuss is all about. The venue projects fun vibe. Staff were truly helpful and attentive. As first timers, we decided we go with the safest choice, 'Hot Lips Margarita ' as you can 't go wrong with a Margarita in a Mexican eatery. Unfortunately for me, it didn 't hit the mark. I've travelled through Mexico more times than I can count, and it's rare for me to be anything but disappointed by Melbourne's attempts at the cuisine. This place was a nice surprise and maybe something of a hidden gem for those generally too shy to venture too far out of the inner-city. A friend took me here and I ended up trying a good few of the dishes over a few trips there. Having some good chilaquiles on offer locally and a decent ceviche has been a real highlight of the times I've eaten at Hot Lips.<br/ <br/ Service is great too, and the drinks list is excellent.
The staff provided wonderful service. I particularly enjoyed the quesadilla and ceviche—they were both beautifully presented! While the portions weren't very large, we had to wait 45 minutes for a table on a Saturday night. However, we made the most of it by grabbing a beer at the Vietnamese bar/restaurant across the street, which worked out nicely.
Hot Lips has become a favorite spot for my friend and me. The service is excellent, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere is fantastic. While the food portions are on the smaller side (or maybe we’re just choosing the wrong dishes), the flavors have a wonderful kick. It's delicious and satisfying. I can't wait for my next visit! Second time visiting Hot Lips both times we have had a great experience. The food is full of flavour and I personally think it’s reasonably priced portions are good. Stand out dishes were the fish tacos the ceviche. Don’t let the current Zomato rating stop you from trying this place out. It’s awesome!
I absolutely love this place! It has a great atmosphere, amazing food, and pretty good cocktails. The only downside is that it's a bit pricey (though I really enjoy the corn), but the service is excellent as well. Having visited Mexico, I can say that the food tastes quite authentic!
