Hotel Bären Gonten

Located within the idyllic canton of Appenzell, the village of Gonten is home to a little gastronomic gem: Bären. Tucked across the train station, the beautiful and impressive house combines excellent food and genuine hospitality. I had dinner in the gourmet restaurant a really...intimate and "gemütlich" dining room on the first floor. Thumbs-up to the wonderful service provided by Fabienne smiling, attentive and efficient. As starter I had the so-called "Ei-Kreation" tasty and delicate variation around the egg. This was followed by a revigorating Red Champagne soup. I have been able to evaluate many restaurants - but rarely did this review come out so convincing, so clear and easy - WAHNSINN!From the service via the ambiente over the kitchen - the chef himself inquires about his result - to the warm, warm, warm farewell by the owner just agrees everything! thanks fabienne for the great support - always present, humorous - and simply TOPCLASS!Gerne again - gonten is not only worth a visit - he is a MUSS!Many thanks!

great host susi and chris faber. a beautiful Mother's experience with wonderful cuisine and pleasant folk music. what I miss is the stronger local reference on the map to the appenzell e.g. small savory to the appenzell, schloorzfladen and much more what it has to offer against. I'm looking forward to the next visit. I'm coming back

From the start to finish, it was a great experience. Warm welcome, efficient service by knowledgeable staff and the live music by local musicians added to the charm. Food was very fresh and presentation Michelin quality. Highly recommended
