We arrived in Villefranche-du-Perigorde after traveling 5,000 miles with little sleep and rusty French. Our first stop was for directions and a telephone at La Bastide. The owners were so helpful that we returned later that night for dinner. The restaurant is simply elegant, as is the food. The owners speak several languages. Between their English and our French, we ordered the first of our many meals at La Bastide during our month stay. Food is local, fresh and delicious. Presentation is outstanding. Sauces and desserts are incredible. Price is wonderful. Karin and Alwin offer more than a meal. They provide information on sight-seeing, shopping, cultural events, and more.
We passed this hotel restaurant on the way from the airport and stopped for a beer in the evening sunshine and vowed to return soon to eat there. The following Monday,we planned to have lunch on our way to Gascony. The menu was reasonably priced and offered a good choice. The food was well cooked and presented and served efficiently by La Patronne ( De Baas!) who recommended we try the Cornish Sole (Megrim) - a delicious, firm white meat, not unlike Dover Sole. The steak Pave was cooked rare to perfection but required serious mastication. We were happy with our lunch and the cleanliness of the toilets/public areas ( often a let-down in France). We will be back!
This Dutch couple does not compromise. Everything is prepared a la maison with, mainly, local fresh ingredients. The scottish salmon is home smoked, and you taste the differentce. Sole drom Arcachon, lobster from Normandy, all prepared a la minute. Friendly service, chef passes by after the meal. It is not a cheap place, but if you go for the €32 menu, you can't go wrong. The Dordogne is traditionally a poor region. This couple proves that also here, you can enjoy gourmet cuisine.
We ate at the restaurant on Thursday night and enjoyed the experience so much that we returned on Friday too. The food is of excellent quality, beautifully presented and tastes wonderful. The outside terrace had a lovely ambience. Service was excellent The wine list was extensive and reasonably priced. If we return to Villefranche, we would certainly eat at La Bastide and would recommend it without any hesitation.

We ate outside lovely evening on the very well appointed terrace. The menu here is well thought out and presentation beautiful. All the food is prepared with care and was delicious. It was also great value given the quality. We have eaten in many...restaurants in this area and this is undoubtedly the best by some distance. We would recommend without hesitation.
excellent service amazing, modern eating! the hosts were so friendly and spoke very good English! the menu was great with some traditional dressed and modern dressed. we managed to book the last table, so I would say that booking is important!
Dutch couple cooking beautifully, sourcing their produce locally, excellent wine suggestions. Beef was beautifully cooked and very tender. Excellent family night out. Would thoroughly recommend it - deserves its trip advisor position.

we had dinner here in august 2020, and eating and wein were very good and the host friendly and friendly. I would recommend the white chocolate and passion fruitchteis dessert, my partner had it and I was very jealous of his choice.
great place, super restaurant and friendly owners. good starting point for the exploration of the environment.
