House Of The Trembling Madness

Used to be a great place however Environmental health need to visit . Website states food served until midnight . 9 pm Sunday . Kitchen closed …… but look at this that hasn’t been taken away for hours we stayed for a drink ! Just to give you an update : You appear to be talking rubbish about wait on food as the guy told he had RAN OUT of food . Also the table was cleared certainly not as quick as stated . Always best to get the story right before posting replies as this affects your business integrity . Great customer service also I see

This may be our favourite spot for beer and nibbles in York. It’s such a cool atmosphere. Upstairs in this historic building, it has vaulted ceilings, with beams are from old Viking ships. Quirky and cozy. Good selection of Belgian beers in the bar. The shop downstairs has about every beer ever made that you could take upstairs to drink if you’d like. Limited but delicious food includes cheese and meat boards that are just great to share with a group. It’s quirky and friendly.

Amazing ye olde pub with original timber interiors great choice of beers and food with cosy ye olde atmosphere, and even had some mead. Staff very nice and freindly too. Also great choice of beers on tap as well as tonnes of cool drinks in the shop below (at street level which is a tad confusing at the start). Definitely shall go again when I’m back in York.

Absolutely excellent pub with a great choice of ales and craft beers. Can really see that there has been a lot of thought put into the beers on tap. Food is fantastic and bar snacks are reasonably priced. Can be busy at times and a good local spot Reserva una mesa ahora

If you really like your beers, this place is heaven. A good selection from the taps upstairs and the most amazing bottle shop I have ever seen downstairs. Tasty food as well Belgian inspired soup and stew on the menu at lunchtime

This is my favourite pub in York. Great selection of beers, quaint and quirky decor, brilliant atmosphere and genuinely good value! Couldn't recommend highly enough, amazing place.
