Houston avenue Bar & Grill

We waited over an hour for our meal to be served. I ordered the 23$ chicken portobello. The menu mentioned chicken supreme. They served me a chicken leg that was not quite cooked. I politely asked to return the chicken and showed the waitress the veins and blood. She quickly brought my plate back to the kitchen. A few minutes later this guy comes marching back with the same plate accompanied by the waitress. He firmly began telling me that the blood we see is not red but brown and that there was no danger in eating the food. We argued and disagreed. It’s a lovely restaurant. Lots of seating, bright, TVs on all the time to catch up on sports. This is my second time here and I really enjoyed the food. However, as the last time we were here, the server couldn’t care less if we were there or not. I guess they hired her because she was pretty but I think she could have put a minor effort. None of the servers working showed any concern for the customers. I would not have tipped but it affects everyone down the line so ended up tipping the proper amount. Not much to tell except that I had heard some good things about this restaurant and I felt like a steak. We arrive and it was almost empty and took a seat on the terrace because all the tables in the inside were high table bar type. It took at least 18 minutes to get a menu and even though there were very few people no one came back. I looked at the menu and $50.00 for a filet mignon at lunch seems pretty high. I waited for more than 20 minutes and finally left, and as we left we walked in front of a woman at the bar who never made eye contact. I recently had a business lunch with two other colleagues at Houston 's at the Dix30 shopping mall. The seating was in high-top tables and the service was good although the main receptionist at the restaurant entrance refused to speak English. I had the steak and frites meal which was quite good although the steak was very chewy, so I suspect the restaurant uses flank steak. The steamed vegetables on the plate were quite good. The restaurant does carry non-alcoholic beer but not wine. Houston 's is one of the better restaurants in the Dix/30.

Excellent service our waiter Nicolas was very nice and very gracious. The molten lava cake was delicious for dessert!!
