I love hole in the wall restaurants, especially if they are authentic and good, home cooked food. I was disappointed with Huong Huong - my first taste of Marrickville! Menu seems to have almost every Asian cuisine in it which I don't interpret to be a good thing - specialize in something and be good at it - don't need to please every palate. Bit of Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese but supposed it was predominantly a Vietnamese restaurant (usually good in Sydney) so we went for Viet dishes. Can't get better than this little locals joint. Super quick service. Has basically every Asian meal you could think of on the menu and even if you can find it, they will make it! So cheap too which I think is the biggest drawcard.Not like a typical Chinese restaurant with banquet - this is a get in and get out type place where sometimes you might share a table.I don't think I've had a bad meal here in the past 3 years
Probably go here once a week for a Viet fix.The original owners sold out about a year ago but I think the original chef is still on board.The noodle salad with lemon grass tofu is fantastic ,the salt and pepper chicken is to die for,with the green veg.It's been there for years the staff are great,the new owners have refurbished the place and increased the prices by a dollar or two.It's still value for money.
Stopped in here for a quick feed before a gig at the Factory and loved it. If plastic plates and cheap furniture put you off, then by all means stay away. The food ticks a lot of boxes. Large portions, cheap dishes and really lovely food. The squid in Chilli and lemon grass is sensational. The beef noodle dish was fresh and zesty, full of flavour. I will definitely return.

After 6 weeks in Australia coming from Vietnam Miss Phuong, the waitress saved us with some absolutely excellent food and friendly Vietnamese service. The restaurant was a great surprise and we will be back and will recommend. Thanks Miss Phuong and the team at Huong Huong.
Food was OK ish. Had a delivered takeaway. Took 1hr 15 mins to arrive and wasn't hot. Food was bland. Decent sized portion of Singapore noodles, they were the best bit. For $60 for 2 starters and 2 mains (including 20% discount) I wasn't impressed.
