We were meeting a friend for dinner who lives nearby, so decided to give this a try. I like the idea of pairing high quality pastas with quality, even exotic, ingredients while letting the pasta remain a focus. I fear the blue box with orange coloured chemicals, from that $20 billion a year multinational, has ruined pasta for generations of North Americans. This review is based on the service we received from our waitress.We were a table top of 4 for dinner. The $84 my mother spent was apparently not enough money to satisfy our server but the 45 minutes we spent there seemed more than enough, as she was overwhelmingly pushy and floating around us the entire meal like flies on a fresh carcass.She wouldn't let our table finish eating before she cleared half the plates away from my mother and girlfriend. This is pasta as it should be! All hand made on site and cooked individually rather than made ahead. Rather than cover this amazing pasta with heavy sauces, they allow the pasta to be the star of the dish, pairing with very fresh ingredients. There was a 40 minute wait for tables, but we ordered take out and the wait was fairly reasonable especially given the quality of the food. Highly, highly recommend if you are in the area. This small restaurant in the Parkgate mall serves quality fresh pastas and excellent sandwiches and salads. It is pretty compact and can get very busy during prime hours but take away service is offered as well. The pasta is all handmade, the spelt spinners are perhaps my favorite but be sure and check the board for the daily special.
We stopped for lunch after passing this restaurant numerous times over the past year and seeing how busy it was. The reason it can get busy is that it's that good! We had a delicious lunch after being given some wonderful suggestions from our servers. Great meal, great value and great service. We will be back!
The restaurant is casual and family friendly. Staff are very pleasant and enthusiastic. And the pasta itself is fantastic. Canadian grown wheat. You can also buy their dry pasta and make it at home ... it is truly incredible. In addition to pasta we had several of their unbeatable and flavourful starters.
