When visiting for three days, we wanted to make sure we were near the heart of the city where we'd be able to easily access anything. What attracted us to this hotel is that it was fairly city-central, but was also next to the Berlin central station, where you can catch buses, trains, and the underground. And this hotel offers each guest a free transport card during the stay, so you can go anywhere on public transportation. The rate was also fantastic for a major European city. We had three people, and the rooms are really designed for two guests, so they do bring a roll away bed for the third guest, which was fine. The beds were comfortable. Not much of a neighbourhood, but good hotel. This is a lovely hotel next to Hauptbahnhof (Central Station). It's handy if you're travelling on, or to other locations in Berlin by train, but not quite so if you like to fall into your destination. Basically the neighbourhood IS the larger than life train station. There are bars, supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, mc d's, etc.. in and around the station, but you'll pay a small premium to buy anything. It's fairly cheap and it gives you a free travel ticket worth €7.50 a day for the duration of your stay. You can travel anywhere, by train, bus or tram within Berlin. You'll probably buy an all day ticket anyway, so it's a saving if €15 for 2. It's...
I agree with most of the reviews here (though I did have a trash can in my bathroom)! Very, very nice hotel...and a great value. I was able to get an early check in (despite originally being told not available) by being nicely persistent. Really, nice, helpful, pleasant staff (unlike the Intercity Hotel in Kiel). Room kind of has a luxury feel without being stuffy. Well laid out, impeccably clean. Location is fabulous for the main train station...the Hauptbahnhof. Would rate it 5 out of 5 for that. When I arrived for an early check-in we I was upgraded to a bigger room with courtyard view (and less noise) and offered a drink voucher for the bar. No need to say I was satisfied, however my colleagues were treated differently: one was upgraded but not offered the drink, the other was given the option to pay € 20 per night for the upgrade or wait until 14:00 for a room. The hotel itself is clean, new, functional and very close to the main station and several attractions (within 1,5 km). The river and Tiergarten park is close by if you fancy a run or a walk. Great location. I had to stay here one night before taking the train to the airport early in the morning. Accommodations are very plain and simple. You get a place to sleep with a shower and tv in clean room. I booked online ahead of time and everything was straight forward. Some things that weren't satisfactory were that they didn't have any shampoo and only a little soap in the bathroom. I reserved a larger bed for 2 people and it only had one pillow, so I had to go to the reception to ask for another. The bed was not comfortable and the pillows were very soft and had no support. I spent the night, got up early and left so that part worked out. I would not go back. This isn't in a good loc...
If you're attending a conference at the Oyster then this is a great location because it's a quick ten minute walk along the river. It's also very central so it's a good base if you are trying to see multiple locations and need a spot that all the bus/metro/trains meet. I opted for no breakfast buffet because those can be a bit heavy and for the price I could get a nicer meal. You're also really close to Hauptbahnhof which has pastry and coffee, which is what I tend to eat for breakfast and ends up being a forth of the price.
Arrived in Berlin without hotel reservations and we wanted to stay near the main train station. This hotel is just around the corner on a quiet street. Walked up and booked a room with ease. The front desk staff is very helpful and friendly. The hotel is modern and clean. We came for a quick 2 night stay before our flight back to the USA. The location was great for being a tourist and we were very satisfied with our stay. An awesome beer garden is just 5 minutes walk in a park area by the river.
This was my least favorite lodging of our whole trip. The room was not on the level of 5 stars as we'd requested. While the bathroom was pretty decent, the room itself was not. It very much reminded me of a motel 6. The walls had scuff marks on them. This hotel isn't equipped with any washcloths. So if you use them be sure to bring your own. Can't beat this location, it's so close to the main train station, making it a great option if you need to stay for a night. The hotel is new and in good shape. The problem is: The beds are extremely uncomfortable, and I never have back pain, but I had it most nights here. The breakfast was not very good either, I would just pick something up at the train station versus eating here. Service was good.
