We were recommended to visit this restaurant, but were surprised to find out that they closed at 8:00. Arriving around 7:18, we were disappointed to receive no greeting or acknowledgement from the three staff members in the store. It was our first time there and we were unsure if we were supposed to order at our table or at the cash register. There were no signs to guide us. After waiting for 15 minutes, we finally had to flag someone down to ask how to proceed. We were met with a rude response, being told we had to order quickly as they were closing at 8. The lack of hospitality and abrupt interactions left a negative impression on us. We decided to leave and enjoy a delicious Chinese meal...
I would have given a 5-star rating for the taste of the food. The flavor and temperature were perfect. However, there were two minor issues: 1. The Flan was not packaged properly and all the syrup leaked out in the bag. The Flan tasted delicious but would have been even better with the syrup on top. 2. The Ropa Vieja was actually Carne Guisada (Beef Stew), not Ropa Vieja as listed on the menu. Despite this, the taste was still fantastic and I enjoyed it. As a Hispanic individual, I must emphasize that the taste of the food was truly authentic. I will definitely be ordering from this restaurant again.
The food at this restaurant was incredibly tasty and arrived in a reasonable amount of time, although I had hoped for it to come sooner since I don't live too far away. The Cuban sandwich was particularly outstanding, although some parts were soggy due to being soaked in the green sauce (possibly recaito) which was quite oily. The pernil that came with my mofongo was decent, but the plantains were overly firm and dry. My husband especially enjoyed the yuca fries. Overall, I believe we will give this restaurant another chance.
I recently enjoyed a very delicious Cuban sandwich at this restaurant. This was my second time ordering it. The sandwich had crispy bread on the outside, filled with garlic roasted pork, pickles, Swiss cheese, and ham, which made for a flavorful combination. However, I would have preferred if the meat was hotter. The black beans seemed to be undercooked as they were not partially dissolved. This restaurant serves authentic Puerto Rican cuisine in a relatively clean environment. The staff turnover rate is high and the owner is rarely present. However, they generally get orders correct and the food is consistently made and flavorful, with the exception of the tostones which can be inconsistent. The pollo guisado and pastels are particularly delicious and consistent. Overall, there are many delicious dishes on the menu.
