Well presented hotel with large rooms and very nicely renovated en-suite. You need an elevator to the 1st floor reception, but this is not a big deal. Staff are friendly and professional, and you will only be shown with a single room (physical door keys). If you leave the hotel for a day trip, it is a good idea to leave your key with the reception. Breakfast is simple, hot eggs are cooked and pastries, some cold meat and cheese, with cereal and juices, and offered between hours from 7-10. The rooms have many USB charger points, 1000 channels on the large screen TV including some English, although I found it hard to get pictures on the English channels. Large French doors are double glazed and open to an outdoor terrace (which you are lucky if your room contains one of the terraces). On the first day we found two bottles of spring water available in our room. Rooms have a safe, a storage cabinet, air conditioning and fabric. The location is directly opposite Montreux Casino and the buses 201 204 keep in front. On the ground floor there is a nice restaurant in the hotel.
When my husband and I looked in, the room allocated to us should be non-smoking. When I came to the room, I was almost caught by the smelling, smoky room, but immediately the evening shift type at the reception immediately changed our room without any further question. I really appreciate his kind understanding and gesture, because as an asthmatic patient I can't resist the cigarette smell so much. I'm so sorry I didn't get his name, but I can see how proactive he was in his job. I hope he sees this review to know that I thank him from below in my heart. The room that has been refurbished for us has a wider bathroom. I find the bathroom very clean. The room can get cold from night, and when I was there in mid-March, it was still cold, but I have extra clothes with me. So it was good. I wish the bathroom has more space for me to hang my clothes because I prefer to change in the bathroom, as the room can be very cold at 6-7am. Yeah, I'll shower every morning at that time.
Rather run down and in need of modernisation and general repair. The shower bathrooms have lots of black mold, worn out broken rusted fittings. Breakfast is basic but sufficient, the 2 staff try their best. The rooms need updating, windows doors don't seal allowing cold outside air inside. Old carpet, creaking floor, can hear movement in other rooms etc. Website states minibar in all rooms- false, no minibar and info stating minibar available at reception. The original central elevator is coated in thick dust, not cleaned for years. Location is good , on main road but fairly quiet. Parking is limited but public parking is in the area between 30-50 chf for 24hrs.
I can handle old-fashioned vintage style, but I can't use filthy cheap hotels for premium quality. As per pictures, bathtub was incredibly dirty.. In addition, the room was ice-cold and when I called the reception at 7PM to understand why the radiators did not heat up, and I was told that the heaters were switched on automatically at 11PM, which was far ahead.. They delivered extra bedclothes, but still... They don't want to be cold when vacationing in winter. The 2 stars are on the staff kindness, and that's it.
