There are pizza places opening and closing all the time in Biarritz. This restaurant opened in place of the excellent Bibi Brasserie which I'm very surprised closed down.All of the other pizza restaurants in Biarritz serve approximately the same type of modern pizza: American style with more cheese than any other ingredient. Having been spoilt and eaten original pizza in Naples I am yet to find somewhere that replicates the experience but Joie comes very close and is miles ahead of everywhere else in town.
They cater for the take-away market as well as those that prefer to sit in. Pizzas are around 12-14E, cream or tomato-based and of the thin base variety. Everything is fresh and tasty. There's a bambino menu at 8E and it's big enough for most children under 12. My wife didn't like her pizza as much as I enjoyed mine. Wine is around 3-4E a glass (the house wine isn't great) and soft drinks an extortionate 4E. Fair number of tables inside and out. Staff are extremely friendly.
LISTEN. I make a life in the world and this is the best pizza I've ever tasted. The crust is a perfectly baked handmade fluffy crust and the sauce! I don't know what they put in there, but the combination of sauce and mozzarella LITERALLY couldn't make my mouthwater anymore. It's perfect. I lived in Biarritz for three years and this is by far the best pizza place I was in town. Not to mention very friendly and transferable employees. Going in feels like home. I recommend!
Lovely little neighgourhood pizza place that really delivers on the food. The pizzas were super yummy, with non-standard filling, and the few antipasti on the menu were really good!
