Kai Ramen Sherman Oaks

I ordered the Black Garlic Ramen, and I was really impressed. The broth was wonderfully flavorful—just the right amount of saltiness and incredibly aromatic with the scent of toasted garlic. The mild level of spiciness was perfect for enjoying the taste without any overwhelming heat, about on par with a Hot Cheeto or even a bit milder. The bamboo added a strong aroma, which I found interesting. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it came with an egg, as I had almost chosen to add one myself. The noodles were thick, slightly crinkled, and had a great al dente texture, which is my favorite.

I've ordered takeout from this place twice and really enjoyed the black garlic tonkotsu ramen, giving it a solid 4 out of 5. The portions are generous and well-packaged. Last time, I tried the rangoons, but I found them a bit too sweet, so I wouldn't choose them again. For the ramen, I opted for the highest spice level, but I felt it was only mildly spicy, as I typically prefer my food much spicier. Overall, it's definitely a big bowl of comfort on a chilly day!

Not only is this place over priced for some of their items , but you can tell how some food have little effort. One example is their spam musubi. It's so simple yet the rather use a block of non sticky rice and a super thin layer of seaweed with almost no sauce in the middle. At that point the first bite breaks the whole thing apart and there's no flavor.

Ramen 101 has always been my go to comfort food. TBH I have not tried their ramen, but I am a huge fan of their Hawaiian bbq bowls. Plus this is one of the few places around where I live that serve fresh spam musubi Service is fast and ambiance is very casual. Reserva una mesa ahora

The food was excellent, but the woman who was there in the evening was unfriendly and lacking in customer service. Because of that, I'm not sure if I'll return.
