Kaito Sushi Seal Beach

I broke my first rule of going to a sushi restaurant. If the sushi chefs aren’t Japanese then I don’t go. I should not have broken that rule. Kaito is the worst sushi restaurant I have ever gone to. My uncle ordered some mixed tempura appetizer $9) and couple California rolls $20). The tempura tasted like Trader Joe’s tempura but the cal rolls were ok. I ordered the sushi 7 dinner with Crunchy Roll $32). The fish didn’t smell fresh and I had to get extra wasabi to kill the taste. My wife order a teriyaki salmon/crunchy roll bento box $24). Unsure why this place has amazing reviews. Staff was lovely and friendly, however the food was not great. We came here for a special occasion hoping to enjoy some great sushi and got fish and rolls covered in heavy and overpowering sauces (even the sashimi? . Was off-putting to say the least. Hopefully we just caught them on an off day, but not worth wasting the money for another try.

I placed an order for delivery, it came incomplete and one of the rolls tasted like wet sandpaper and dead bait, I called to correct order and I had to repeat myself over and over but never found anyone who could understand me or was willing to do anything, I have eaten here also with marginal results-never again...$55 for (2) ROLLS, miso soup and (2) very very small seaweed salads

Oye...! WELL! Best thing here, in addition to the nice server, is what you see in the pic right there. GREAT Japanese amber ale... the sushi on the other hand... simply average. Listen here, my friends if you want to get 4 or more stars for your sushi reviews... you better BRING IT. And Kaito Sushi did NOT. Ah well... there's only a gazillion other sushi joints out there. Everyone in my party that got sushi really enjoyed it. Which I get is probably what most people go there for. However, I got the teriyaki chicken and it was not edible. The teriyaki sauce was the worst thing I've ever tasted. My stomach was upset I had to go down the street and get a slice of pizza for dinner afterwards.

My husband and I wanted to give this spot a try, seeing how most of the restaurants on Main are good. ALERT**this one was not! Sushi rolls were small and didn't taste fresh at all! I hate paying for an expensive meal that wasn't worth it!! Plus, service sucked!

This little sushi spot is amazing! Awesome staff and amazing fresh sushi! And they have outdoor dining so we were able to bring our pup: seriously recommend this place if you want some bomb food and awesome service!

Great tasting fish. Restaurant is clean and the staff are very kind and sweet. Will totally go back!!
