Kanpai Japanese Steak Sushi

We were in the area for work and decided we wanted something different than normal. Upon entering, it is a pleasant entrance. Staff was quick to seat us at the Hibachi table, but as with any Hibachi, if the table is not full or mostly full, they will wait to see if more guests arrive. We did arrive within a couple hours of closing, so they were not busy at all. They ended up asking if we did not mind joining with another table. We did not as there were only 2 of us. What a wonderful surprise we found while visiting in Little Rock! A employee at our hotel suggested we look for a place to eat in north Little Rock and we had so many choices. Asian sounded good. We were greeted quickly by a friendly server and seated immediately! It was 5:30! Our beverages were quick to come also. I ordered the tempura dinner and my partner ordered Teriyaki Beef. Oh my goodness you all, they both were so good! The tempura was cooked just right and there was soOoo much!! And the Teriyaki was out of this world! This is by far the dirtiest restaurant I've ever been in. The floors were dirty and sticky, the hibachi was filthy and had food on it from the previous day, we were the first customers in on a Sunday evening. They open at 5pm so they have all day to clean! The food was good, was worried I would be getting cleaned out after eating. No frills from the chef, wait staff was good but from my perspective, if the main entrance and dining area was so nasty I would hate to see the kitchen! It's a salmonella breeding ground!

Sushi Service. We go to Kanpai about once a week. We always sit by the pond, it's peaceful and an enjoyable place to have a conversation. They bring our drink order as soon as we sit down. Everyone is very pleasant and efficient. Our sushi is made fresh to order and they get it to you fairly quickly. It's consistently great sushi, that seems to only use the finest ingredients. I would recommend Kanpai to anyone who loves Sushi.

Restaurant service was great until my daughter and I finished our food and noticed a bug floating in the low sodium container of soy sauce. We were given it when the container was full. Didn't notice it until after meal was almost done and went to use it again. I was only given 10% off my meal!!!! I absolutely will not ever return!!!!

We love this restaurant. Food almost always comes out great. Sushi is wonderful. Much more laid back then Benihana as far as the hibachi experience though, so you're better off going there if you want the theatrical part of service. This place is great though other than that.

The food was good, but the hibachi experience was fairly unimpressive. I may go back sometime, but that's more due to the lack of good alternatives nearby than any success by the restaurant.

Great experience. Never before with this kind of dining experience, so my partner chose it perfectly. A floor show and many friendly banters with our table mats. I'd come back.

Been here twice, both times the food and service was great! Ginger dressing is awesome and the steak is perfect! Great vibe all around!
