I used to love this place. Then the prices started going way up. I stayed away for awhile, but came back because of past good food memories. I was disappointed enough this time that I plan to ghost Karlita 's permanently.Contrary to other reviews, the staff has always been friendly and hard working. The problem this time was the poor quality of the chile relleno burritos. In the past they were extraordinary. This time, the chiles were small, tough and stringy; the cheese was missing... finally found in the bottom 1/3 of the chili (the copious melted cheese used to be one of the best parts), the rice and beans were ok, and there was no avocado (as advertised) I could taste. I was really disap...
I visit this restaurant nearly every weekend, but lately I've noticed that they're serving much less sauce and a lot more curtido with the pupusas. Additionally, there's an excessive amount of oil—it feels like they're deep-frying them. The taste is overwhelmed by oil, rather than letting the pupusa flavors shine through. They've also raised the prices while reducing the amount of sauce. This isn't sitting well with me. The pupusas are delicious, and I don't have any complaints about the flavor itself; it's just that the oiliness is becoming too much. I'm starting to consider looking for another option because of these issues, and I've been a loyal customer for quite some time.
Tried a 2 pupusa plate and 2 shrimp tacos shared for 2 people. I tried the frijole pupusa which is beans and cheese, I thought it was okay. The one the BF got was very cheesy. The shrimp tacos were good. It was enough food for the two of us, we even took a shrimp taco home. Order at the counter, a small simple room in the back to eat, or outside in front. Mexican music was playing. Vegetarian options: They have bean and cheese pupusa, I think also a cheese only pupusa. They did not have vegetarian meat options for tacos. But you could get a vegetarian burrito with beans and no meat, probably quesadilla also.
Delicious!! This is a fantastic spot for pupusas. It's been years since we last dined here, and I was pleased to find that the food is still exceptional. The owners are incredibly friendly as well. If you're in the area, be sure to give it a try!

This is a wonderful hole in the wall Mexican food place. Not fancy, but totally delicious. Their pupusas are particularly good. Made to order. My favorite is the pork and cheese. This place is the real thing — no texmex pandering
My favorite taco spot in the Bay Area! The food is cooked fresh and tastes amazing. Karlita’s tends to get very busy during lunch and dinner hours, so make sure to plan ahead or be ready to wait – you definitely won’t regret it!
Everything I ordered was absolutely delicious. The salsa was full of flavor. I didn't realize that the crunchy crispy taco came with a side of chips. The pupusa was probably my favorite; it was quite large in size.
Best tacos in Redwood City I ordered 3 crispy tacos . The only thing I regret is not ordering 4. Thanks ?
