The only downside is the somewhat unfriendly staff. If you speak Cantonese, they’re welcoming and chatty; if you speak Mandarin, you might get a half-smile, and if you only speak English, well, you’ll likely get a rather indifferent response. It seems a bit much to expect them to greet their customers, doesn’t it?
Kee Wah operates as a self-serve bakery. Just grab a tray and some tongs and fill it to the brim with all the delightful goodies. While most items are self-service, the hot treats like egg custards and meat buns are kept in an enclosed warmer and need to be retrieved by the staff.

KEE WAH BAKERY is a cute little bakery found in a large shopping center on the northeast corner of Garvey and Atlantic.We didn 't come to this center for the bakery, but while walking past, it seemed like the perfect place to buy our niangao tikoy for the Flips) since everything looked so festive in here.Good thing we did too. They had a lot of different traditional New Year treats in here... AND they were packaged for Year of the Rabbit New Year celebrations!They also had these butter panda cookies that were sooo good.The niangao, btw, was perfect! My 400 dowry cakes were carefully packaged and quickly loaded onto the railing. I was truly impressed by the work ethic and professionalism of the team at this bakery, as well as their world-famous Hong Kong-style pastries, snacks, and custom cakes. It's clear why I drove 400 miles to visit Kee Wah!

They carefully packaged and swiftly loaded 400 Dowry Cakes onto the railing for me. I was truly impressed by their work ethic and professionalism. Of course, I can't forget to mention the bakery's world-famous Hong Kong-style pastries, snacks, and custom cakes.
We stopped here to get some baked goods to take my father to the hospital. The ladies who work here are generous and funny. I am very white, my husband is very Asian, they would easily switch between mandarin and English when they talk to us both. We have 6 egg cubes, a few baked rolls and a milk tea. Everything was delicious.
The egg custard and melon cake (lao po bea) were delightfully flaky and not overly sweet. The BBQ pork bun was decent, but I found it to have too much bread and not enough meat for my taste.
Quality has gotten down hill for the pineapple bun. The crispy layer is thinner, smaller in size, softer. Price has gone up, quality has gone down,. How disappointing!

Friendly staff. Baked goods were well stocked. My favorite bread is the pineapple buns which are really delicious. The bread was really fluffy.
