Kenaki Sushi Counter

I was in the Gaithersburg area for work and wanted to find somewhere great and low key to eat dinner. Yelp steered me to KENAKI for sushi. I snagged a parking spot close by and gave it a shot. I was greeted immediately and was shown to my table. The space itself is small but I thought the atmosphere was clean and modern. The tables are a little close together for my taste, but it didn't affect my rating. My server was Karin and she was very attentive and made menu recommendations enthusiastically when asked. We have Kenaki for lunch! They had a lunch menu, but we went with things from the regular menu. It wasn't too busy being a weekday, and they were really good at sitting parties far apart. Service was really good, every time my water was a little deep it was filled again, and when they forgot an ingredient in the role of my friend, they immediately caught her a new one. The food was fantastic and I’ve been there twice; both times were good. Green monster sushi was really good it has avocado and shrimp delicious and flavorful. Crispy spicy tuna was also pretty good but def not the best I’ve had. California roll is also very very good one of the best I’ve had. The pork bun was sooo good and I normally don’t eat pork but had to try it. 6 rolls and one appetizer came out to 89 dollars without tip. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Very delicious. Had contemplated driving to DC for a special sushi dinner but Kenaki was right in our proverbial backyard, and excellent. Every part of our meal from the miso, to the tuna tartare and the rolls were delicious. The seared scallop topped rolls and crunchy, spicy tuna rolls were particularly noteworthy. Will definitely visit again.
