We had heard great things about the pub and we booked for a family birthday. We had a couple of drinks in the bar area first and the young woman who was serving behind the bar was a delight and an asset to the establishment. We were seated about 10 minutes later than our booked table. The Maitre d ' or restaurant manager is not full of charm unfortunately. He was quite abrupt when he asked for our names when we arrived and when we had chosen our meals, I would say he actually snatched the menu from me! It's more of a restaurant than a pub now, but we were pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed a lovely lunch at a reasonable price and will definitely return. The evening atmosphere seems like it would be very nice. There's a fantastic selection of food, and the coffee was outstanding. I really appreciated that the meal came with a good variety of vegetables instead of just the usual peas! While there isn't a wide selection of bitters, they do offer Guinness and I believe Theakston's as well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place, and my only regret is not trying it out sooner.

I hadn't visited the place since it was renovated, but I was pleasantly surprised by how it has transformed under new ownership. It has gone from a traditional pub to a modern establishment, while still retaining some charming features like shields and helmets, which reference the King Harold connection. The food was excellent, and the staff were welcoming and polite. The background music was soothing, featuring light jazz and artists like Frank Sinatra, which added a nice atmosphere for a midday visit. We will definitely be returning more frequently!

For our Valentine's meal, we had our first dining experience here, and it certainly won't be our last. I ordered the pâté, and it was the best I've ever had. My partner chose the king prawns and said they were the best he had ever tasted as well. The steaks were cooked exactly as we requested, and the potatoes and vegetables were delicious. The service was excellent, and the restaurant itself was very clean and well-decorated. The staff were courteous and helpful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant! Reserva una mesa ahora

I want to extend a huge THANK YOU for going above and beyond by delivering a Mother's Day Sunday roast to my elderly grandmother, who is isolated and has no family nearby. The fact that you did this without any charge is truly commendable. The food and service were amazing! xx

We had a 70th birthday celebration there. The staff were great and so efficient, food was amazing and a great time was had by all.
