We had a group of 6. We arrived at 6;30. and were shown upstair. After a short time 10 - 15 mins we discussed the menu and ordered around 7:00pm. The upstairs room was not crowed and the carpet on the floor made it a pleasant venue to talk to each other. About 8:15 a bowl of plain rice was placed on the table. Other people who order after us were served. No one made any contact with us. We waited and began to get uncomfortable after sitting for around two hours. The meal eventually arrived. The rice that was served we had to ask to be replaced as it was cold. There was an apology at the end of the night that they were very busy...no compensation for the long wait. We went to King and I on a Saturday night and it was packed. Based on our experience, the kitchen cannot handle a full restaurant. We were placed upstairs and the service was unbelievably slow. It's almost as if the staff do not want to walk the stairs. Even to take our order took a very long time. Based on the table next to us, it seems things move more quickly if you get the set menu. I would not return based on the lack of service. Also, there was a group of adults in who had the other upstairs room and their noise was significant and ruined the ambience. However, if you still want to go, for entree I would recommend the Thai duck wrap (it's in a Roti wrap - yum) and the Golden Bag (yum)....
Went there last Saturday night as a couple. Just as well I booked as there did not look to be any spare tables at 7.30 pm when we arrived.We shared an entree. This was calamari which was one of the "new" dishes at the front of the menu. This was lovely and beautifully cooked.For the main course we shared a whole steamed barramundi with ginger sauce plus coconut rice. This was also fantastic.This amount of food was more than adequate for the two of us.We brought our own drinks and this was fine.The total cost was less than $52 for two people - more than reasonable I think.We also looked upstairs. We've been eating in and grabbing take-away from the King and I for around 15 years and have to say it is hands down our favourite Thai restaurant. Scott and the team are fantastic and its always a pleasure to be greeted warmly by them. Can not speak highly enough of the food and service. Our favourite dishes include the Pad Thai which is awesome and the chilli, basil and garlic pork dish along with the spring rolls and satay chicken sticks. Simply wonderful !

A group of us had a celebratory dinner at King and I. We were warmly welcomed and attended to by the friendly, polite and attractive staff. The menu was not extensive but more than adequate. Most of us chose the 3-course buffet which was simply delicious and great value. The manager was attentive and had no problem taking individual payments for what had been a very pleasant dinner. Highly recommended.
We enjoyed a tasty and fresh Thai meal at King & I. Serves were generous and full of flavour. We had one of their chicken red curries with coconut rice..delicious. They were very generous with prawns in our veggie stir fry. Tip- get a bottle of plonk on your way from the bottle-o on the corner of Elgar and Whitehorse before 8pm or else enjoy the water!
Good Thai take away at a reasonable price. We picked up but they deliver for $5 on orders over $30. Friendly staff and quick service. Only downside is the lack of parking on Whitehorse rd. TIP: parking off Clapham st that holds around 20 cars.
Not for the vegetarians. Staff was also un-helpfull. We had a small child with us and they had only one hi-chair avalable, so we had to go without it apparently. Food was average and not cooked properly..

Excellent service for a group of 9 with 3 different dietary restrictions. Wonderful food and atmosphere, and the price was quite reasonable.
