Kinkaku Japanese Cafe Restaurant

A great little local Japanese restaurant that is worth a visit. Had dinner here with some of the family who had been here before and what a loverly surprise. Very friendly staff who were attentive and efficient.The place is small with 9-10 tables.We began with a plate of Sashimi that was fresh and tasty and of a reasonable size, something you don't always get in Japanese restaurants. We followered this with some Sushi, Harumaki (Japanese mini spring rolls) and some Gyoza, all well presented and tasty.With the mains we continued to share a plate of Calamaris and some mixed tempura with a nice fresh batter. We hadn't been for quite a while and went with some friends for dinner.It was very good just as it always has been.The menu has a good selection of dishes, the service friendly, meals arrived promptly, the food was very good and the prices very reasonable.The décor is not flash but that doesn't matter the place is clean and comfortable.We'll make sure we don't leave it so long till our next visit.

This is a very nice Japanese restaurant in Ormond that has a good menu to select from, the food is very nice and the prices are reasonable.Their drinks are reasonably priced as well you can BYO wine.The sushi and sashimi is always good and so is the Tatsu Age and Katsu Don.The staff are always friendly and the service good.

Stop in for a quick meal and pleasantly surprised at the extensive menu and the quality of the food. The staff very courteous and friendly and only having a limited time didn't have time to explore the dishes better. I will return at some stage to do just that. My wife and I had out first dinner at Kinkaku recently. We were very pleasantly surprised with the friendly service and quality of food. Serving sizes were quite generous. Although the decor was a bit basic with harsh lighting, the food more than compensated. Will definitely go back.

Great authentic food at a very reasonable price. We stop in here quite often and are always happy with every meal we've had. A couple of favourites are the bento box and the tempura- delicious! Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Visited this cafe again last week after a long break. Was pleasantly surprised at the new expanded menu and food didn't disappoint. The cafe is fairly basic but clean and prices reasonable. Friendly staff and great food!

Had a selection of entres and a main of mixed tempura. Service was excellent and all the courses we tried were tasty and cooked to perfection if applicable. At a reasonable price. Will definitely dine here again. Reserva una mesa ahora

It was very nice to have family dinner. The sashimi was really fresh and great. I believe it is the best Japanese restaurant in South - Eastern part of Melbourne.

Pleasant staff..Ordinary food. Been there done that. Very thick chewy Tempura batter. Spring rolls chewy. Not for me..
