Kreta Ayer Restaurant is great for Singaporean Cuisine. Even better, they have a number of locations around Sydney. Whether you are after something quick and tasty like roti canai or a laska or if you are after a seafood feast or one of Singapores most famous dished the singapore chilli mud crab, Kreta Ayer has you sorted. We were welcomed and served by the wonderful staff. We were dining in a group and indulged in a variety of Singaporean delights from the menu. We were told that the seafood was sourced fresh and decided to test the waters. We ordered the Singapore Chilli Crab and as per tradition, the live Mud crab was paraded at the table. To start the ginger and shallot scallops were sweet...

Spore chilli mud crab aint cheap here $49 per half kilo if i am not mistaken. And of course, it changes daily. Not sure if the crab we got was farmed or not, the crab meat was not 'dense' enough, nothing outstanding about the sauce either. I guess it would do if one has a craving for spore chilli crab and does not want to venture into the city. One of the few places which serves spore oyster omelette (not available everyday as it depends on the supply of fresh oyster), i was apprehensive of getting my hopes up after being told multiple times that it was not available. This too was nothing to write home about, though the oysters were indeed fresh. It just is not authentic enough. Kangkong...

Tried this restaurant for the first time after seeing all the crowds. We ordered 3 dishes, the fried fish soup noodles, braised beef noodles and tom yum fried rice. Now as Singaporeans ourselves we knew exactly what to expect from the food but alas, we were disappointed. Broth in fish soup noodles was nothing more than full cream milk in a mild broth. Yikes! No evaporated milk and certainly not enough ginger and fish in stock. Fried fish pieces were tiny and did not look appetising when placed in such a big bowl. Beef in beef noodles were rock hard, we did not finish the dish. Also, no sauce on noodles. Fail. Tom yum fried rice was slightly better than the other dishes but we found the use o...

Very impressed with this indeed! The combination laksa was one of the best, right up there with Temasek in Parramatta or To's North Sydney. Surprisingly generous with the ingredients - fresh prawns, tofu, cha siu, chicken thigh, fish balls several other bits and two kinds of noodle, all held together by a spicy and rich broth. The chicken satays were excellent, the beef a little less so, but the satay sauce was fantastic.Service was young, enthusiastic and friendly.Wouldn't go there for a long lunch, but it's definitely a step up from a food court outlet.Unlike the New Shanghai next door, they didn't impose a public holiday surcharge either. We'll be back Reserva una mesa ahora

Do not go to this place - avoid! We saw them serving curry which was pulled from a takeaway box and heated up in the microwave. We ordered a laksa and it came with wontons, bbq pork and other random items - not authentic at all! The roti tasted like it was from a frozen packet (guarantee it was). Not fluffy and soft. Instead it was flat, crunchy and perfectly rounded - looked like the frozen ones I make for myself at home. Kreta Ayer, you can't fool me. My Malaysian friends all laughed as the food was a total joke.

The food was quite good, the skewers weren't really strong in flavour and was just very normal. The char Keoy Teow was the best I would say having lots of flavours and very authentic. The customer service was great, the staff were really friendly and nice, but was very chaotic in the restaurant.Overall I would come back again and the food is quite nice!

Popular lunch spot inside Catswood Chase, we has combination laksa and singapore har mee. Both were huge serves and we can understand why others were shareing ang taking home the leftovers for dinner. Mine was a good laksa, raising my temperature, plenty of meat and seafood, meat balls and dumplings with the noodles and soup. Wife enjoyed the har mee.

If you are looking for authentic Singaporean food, this is not the place. The nasi lemak was horrible. The rice was mushy and to top it off, the gravy from the beef rendang made it mushier. The satay and accompanying peanut sauce was a disappointment. Tasted nothing like satay. I would call it "grilled chicken skewer". Reserva una mesa ahora

Probably the worst imitation of the Singaporean cuisine. I have been to Singapore many times and I have not seen or tried Hokkien Mee and Prawn Paste chicken like those at Kreta Ayer. The authentic Singaporean version should have thick vermicelli, squids, pork belly and bean sprouts and not green leafy vegetables.
