The Mrs. used to live here for 5 years, this was one of her most favored restaurant. Now 10 years later, we are visiting together LA and she was excited to take me there. Sat on the bar and enjoyed a very good sushi. The Sea Bass barbecue was amazing! Dipped in a special sauce, the fish has an amazing fresh taste. We also had an excellent entree of salmon tower. A dish name rice cake was pretty good and the lemon roll was okay. Also ordered a mushroom soup that was too salty to my taste, too dominant soy taste. For the prices, was a bit over priced (over 100$ for 4 shared dishes).
We ordered two sashimis, crispy rice, and three rolls. Unfortunately, when the last roll arrived at our table, we discovered a bug in it. As soon as we saw that, we returned the meal and stopped eating the rest of our food, which we had only sampled up to that point. After the incident, we expressed our disappointment and asked for some compensation since our appetite was ruined, but the waiter refused to offer any discount and seemed indifferent to the possibility of us leaving a negative review. Overall, the food was unsatisfactory, and the service was quite poor.
What can easily be seen as one of the best sushi restaurants in the valley, Kushiyu always delivers when it comes to quality sushi. Not much to say besides you will get high quality sushi and rolls of amazing chefs. The food is really delicious. Service is usually on site, but the big problem is nights and weekends can be easily occupied. The Shijitake mushroom is also a must if you are a fan of mushrooms. Overall one of my favorite sushi restaurants.
Kushiyu is undoubtedly one of the top sushi spots in the valley, consistently impressing with its high-quality offerings. The sushi and rolls, crafted by skilled chefs, are absolutely delightful. The service is typically excellent, although it can become quite busy on nights and weekends. If you enjoy mushrooms, be sure to try the shiitake – it's a standout.
