Today we decided to order from the Kyoto House, this is something we used to do all the time before other options came available for Japanese cuisine in Whitby. It has been years and the last time I ordered the person taking our order was rude and the food was nothing exciting. Again this time I was on the phone placing an order and the lady taking my order was rushing me through because my call was not as important to her as the customer waiting to pay their bill. I asked her if I was a customer? Maybe she should have asked if I minded being put on hold? In the end our order was wrong ended up with too many handrolls which my husband paid. For because he didn't know how many I had ordered....
This is the worst sushi I have ever experienced and I'v tried some pretty bad ones. The person making the rolls clearly does not care, because the rolls just fall apart with no presentation at all. Tiniest piece of fish ever in each roll that were room temperature and tasted like spearmint for some reason. I am a 100% positive that this restaurant waters down their soya sauce. My sauce was not salty and was clear/transparent. I confronted the waitress about this and she denied it. Place was empty on a Wednesday night, I wonder why. I don't understand why there are a lot of positive reviews, maybe they have gone down hill in recent months/years. One beer and all-you can eat sushi was 30 dolla...
My husband surprised me and took me here for a romantic evening and it has become my favourite restaurant in the Durham Region. I'm a very selective eater and found the food to be an absolute delight! There's a vast variety to choose from their all you can eat menu. The food is freshly prepared and hot if it's supposed to be and it seems that this chef really enjoys preparing your meal. With the vast number of big chain restaurants that play loud music and have TV's everywhere, this restaurant is a welcome change for us, with their very private booths and soothing surroundings. We are never disappointed when we go there and do feel we get terrific food for what we pay.
My family and I love to go here. The main woman is very kind and caring towards my kids. The sushi is pretty good and several items are very good. Overall a good experience and reasonably priced. We went to go to the Keg and it was too packed so we came here. The food here is served fast and with a smile. I really like the shrimp tempura, salmon sushi, spicy crab roll, dragon roll, shrimp tempura roll, spicy salmon. The tempura bits they use in the rolls are unreal. I'll keep coming and coming here.
I really enjoyed the food here and thought it was one of the best around. The crunchy tempura that's used in the sushi that they make is unreal and a real treat. The only thing I could suggest for here is an iPad ordering menu. The staff was really friendly and treated us proper. I'll definitely be back.
