L' Oustaloun - Reservar una mesa

We just stayed over for one night at the hotel :Which was indeed a quiet room with a pittoresque view from the window on the village centre with a marvelous terrace. We didn 't eat at the restaurant as we dropped our son and his friends at a very nearby camping. It looked all very attractive we have to say . The staff was very friendly and had patience with my "lousy "French..(was still in the Spanish mood. For a 130 Euros a night we 'd expected a bit more from the size and quality of the bed..The WiFi didn 't work as well eventhough we 've tried to follow the instructions on the door. It's a while since we've been because of the pandemic and we looked forward to going back. One of those places where everything was just right: the booking process (by e-mail) was friendly and efficient; the greeting was was and welcoming; the food was beautifully cooked; the owner has happy to chat; it was a lovely warm evening on the terrace. For me the key is to do what you do and to do it well. That applies here. The food is not overly complicated and focuses on taste (beautiful lamb shank in honey; perfectly cooked hake; simple, but full of flavour roasted fruits).

I went to this small family run restaurant many many years ago and recently returned with family. L'Oustalun still remains a good bet for a good meal in the area. The mains a local fish, venison (it was the season) and veal confit were all good. There is a fairly compact wine list with some good local wines. The menu (three courses, one starter, one main and dessert) represents very good value at Euro 42. As I said, this is a family run place, and service is friendly if a periods a little slow.

Sweltering on the main square despite the shade. Parking was very far away so when we were late for our reservation, they had given away our table. Perfunctory service with no water for over half an hour. Expect a 30-minute wait for food is what they say. Lamb (28 euros) was tough, fatty, and undercooked for what I requested. Artichoke veloute was too salty.

We liked this place. Visited three times and never been disapointed . Other places in the square where it's located are disapointing in what they offer unless you are happy with a pizza . A little above average prices at L'Oustaloun but well worth it .
