La Cantinella - Reserva de mesa

Two years of excellent food and service experiences that went through a management change a few months ago, and now it is back to the standards established for many years. The Swedish “disaster” caught them during the transition. Our party of eight left the selection of the dishes to the wait staff and enjoyed the fresh fish, pasta and wine selection. The homemade buffalo mozzarella is served as a “ball”; as it is in Italy with a touch of balsamic. The prosciutto, and other antipasti accompaniments were excellent. In late April I attended a function with family and friends at La Cantinella; actually, the group was large enough to fill the entire guest room, which was pleasant, even though, weather permitting, the 'terrace' on the Neckar would have been more atmospheric. Food was lovingly prepared and very tasty, from antipasti misti (meatless to accomodate non-carnivorous guests) to entrees (saltimbocca/tris di pesce/tagliatelle agli asparaghi verdi) and desert (tiramisù & panna cotta), not to neglect the wines, from prosecco to white (Apulian) or red (Piedmontese--sorry, I forget their names!). Service was attentive and friendly. All in all an entirely enjoyable experience. Worth repeating.

We really liked the atmosphere of the place and the service. We were just a little disappointed in the food portions. I ordered the fish special, but there was very little fish on the plate. My sister ordered the pasta al mer, and also had very little fish. What was there tasted fine but nothing was very memorable, and it certainly didn't seem to be worth the price asked.

The restaurant is located in the old town along one of the many small streets. The interior has an antique atmosphere that includes large poster photos of Sophia Loren (one of my favorites). I had a pasta dish that was quite ordinary, with an ordinary presentation. Other items may have been better, but I dined there only once. Very nice wine selection, however. Reserva una mesa ahora

Estuve en Tubinga con socios comerciales y tuve una agradable cena en La Cantinella. Hacía un calor anormal en julio, pero conseguí una buena mesa afuera junto al río. La comida era muy buena entrante Tricolor y luego saltimbocca de ternera. Otros tenían un pescado local que ...

Hay mesas al aire libre justo al lado del río. Las mesas estaban vestidas con un precioso mantel blanco, lo que le daba al lugar un aire elegante. Me han dicho que la habitación interior también era muy agradable. Está un poco fuera de lo común, pero vale la pena.

Everything one expects from Italian dining is there on the menu. Only pizza is lacking. Cooking and food is on the higher end of Italian fare. Produce is impeccable. Somehow we were surprised by the high amount of the check.
