La Cremaillere Taninges

A restaurant in The Giffre Valley which doesn't serve potatoes, ham and cheese! We had a lovely lunch, delicious Langoustine with home made mayonnaise, and roasted and marinated vegetable made into a stack for starters, followed by the best Maigret of duck my husband had had in a long time, whilst my pork with a bar b que sauce was unctuous and delicious. Dessert was a pineapple soup, flavoured with lemongrass, and a really strawberry ice cream. The service was courteous, friendly, and even the dog was served water! I am so glad we found it, and we will return.

The restaurant is hidden off the beaten track and set in a lovely location overlooking the lake. The menu is limited, which I like, and on the day we visited had a fishy theme. The food was amazing and the restaurant was nicely laid out....More

A little off the beaten track but worth the effort. We had the fixed-price lunch, well-presented and imaginative, generous portions. The staff were friendly & attentive and the lakeside setting encouraged us to linger.
