The Dufours run this hotel with a warm sympathy; I was booked in late, by my daughter who lives and works in France, and arrived not many minutes before service for dinner finished. My apologies were brushed aside and a superb meal appeared on a mid-week evening. The other diners appeared to be or to have enjoyed their meals equally. Breakfast was equally good value BUT it was the friendliness and interest which makes me write this review; a book was loaned for me to read overnight. This is an example of the best of local, authentic hostelry in France of the old fashioned variety. I commend it wholeheartedly having travelled repeatedly in France over the last 25+ years.
I went here alone whilst on business in Sézanne. They had a special lobster menu, which I took. It was an ample meal, full of rich flavours. The salad starter was with grapefruit, and a bit too strong, but the main course was very good indeed. I finished with a sorbet, and enjoyed a glass of house white wine. The decor is a bit tired, but the owners were very polite, and I had a thoroughly pleasant evening. The price was very reasonable. It is not haute cuisine, but it is excellent value for money.
Very good restaurant Mr Dufour is a passionate. In the entrance I took a sole meunière and then a beef filet with cepes and to finish an excellent cowrin. Glass wine
Yesterday visit of Sezanne, restaurant La Croix d'or. Warm welcome, cosi room, superb caviste menu. Plats accompanied by their wines. Only happiness. Mr.Chatenet

Restaurant on top. Very hearty dishes from the entrance to the dessert. Very friendly staff. I recommend.
