Looking in Trip Advisor for a restaurant in Walenstadt off season I thought would be difficult! Grant it there was only one, so we decided to give it a go. Easy to find with lots of parking around! The restaurant if of ample size, clean, fresh looking with an LCD showing the best of Italy. The waiter was prompt, friendly and explained the menu well (as I don't speak German!). We got the curry risotto, and the ravioli, both were delicious, homemade, and very very tasty. We got a bottle of white, and a coffee, and it came to 80 Swiss Francs. La Dolce Vita is located in Walenstadt. Its only a few Miles from the resort Walensee.We thought it offered good value Italian cuisine there were five of us and we all had something different from the menu with no complaints. A bottle of House red was great value for money .Service was excellent with a friendly atmosphere. There was a small bar, both the bar and restaurant seem to be popular with locals.To find turn off the road in to the main shopping area of the village opposite the station. At the top of the street there is a roundabout go left off this and the restaurant is on the right there is ample parking close by.
On the way to Klosters we stopped over at this small village to have lunch. The most famous one was closed on Sunday. So we went to this Italian restaurant. A big surprise! We ate so well - home-made ravioli with herb (sage) and deep-fried seafood (prawn and calamari). The price was very reasonable, 23 SFr and 25 SFr respectively. It is really worth stopping over at this village and visiting this restaurant when driving to canton Grisons (Graubünden). Alternatively, all kinds of pasta and pizzas are also available there.
As an Italian going to an Italian restaurant, I like when there are Italians working in the place, for obvious reasons. This requirement was met and this is already something adding to service and atmosphere! The pizza was good, not exceptional, but certainly worth it! And last but not least, prices are fair.
