We had dinner here on our last evening in Cartegena, after having dined at 6 other memorable restaurants in the historic center on previous nights. La Girolata, unfortunately distinguishes itself in our memory for it 's lack of interest in helping our party of 4 (having...various levels of non-conversational Spanish) to understand the fully Spanish menu; then finally offering alternative menus with English translations after paying some distracted attention to our struggles over the course of 15 or 20 minutes. Neither one of our waitresses on this particular evening made any sincere attempt to communicate with their English -speaking guests, in stark contrast to what we found, over and over...

I've asked an amatricana, as I lived in Italy and was my favourite dish, I love italian cuisine. Ravioli was missing, guanciale wasn't guanciale, bell peppers are a strange re-thinking of the original recipe. But all in all it was good. Waitress was very nice....Chef did come out and greeted everyone else than me, which felt a bit strange. I'm lonely traveller, maybe a woman sitting alone made him embarrassed. I could have taken his advises on what else to eat instead of amatriciana. Mostly because I read he is italian, and I speak fluently italian. Anyways, service nice, food good, location and design excellent. Maybe they could have other glasses of wine as well, not just one. Maybe a Prim...

I lived 6 years ago in ctg and it was my little Italian corner in Colombia. 6 years after that is my little Italian corner in Colombia! every time I miss home, I go to the chef patron pietro piva. his pasta...allo scoglio pasta with seeing eating is just wow! Do you want to talk about the tuna steak? jezzz so tasty! and his resting time? omg! if you need a small corner italiens in cartagena, they now know where they find it!
