This is the most remote restaurant in Chatel right at the the end of the valley, perched up at the Col de Bassachaux Next stop is a track that takes you over the ridge and into the next valley. The building is plain...and old-fashioned no need to manufacture charm, here. The windows are large and have spectacular views over both valleys and the distant surrounding peaks. TIP if you make a booking, specifically ask for a table by a window. The food is old fashioned, Savoyard style the portion sizes are enormous and it is all very tasty. the walk to the restaurant of the bassachaux pass is easy, the beautiful mountainous landscape, you will even cross on the path of the animals at liberty. Once you arrive at the restaurant - seated in sea chairs by contemplating the view of the plain - you will enjoy local specialties made home served in generous portions. what to ask for more? casual place with lots of games space for children. In all points ideal for families, it is worthwhile for walking, sighting and regional restoration. I will not focus on the prices at the restaurant that are obviously already debated on this site. to make the quality pay shorter, even higher, prices are clearly displayed and no one forces you to cons...
We had dinner at La Haute-Bise during our stay in Chatel and enjoyed it very much. Great local food we had the fondue with local mushrooms) while our sons enjoyed their turkey and chicken plates). The service was very good and friendly and the...local wine complemented the dishes very well. Arrive early to enjoy a drink on the terrace with mountain view and see the sun go down. Expect nothing fancy but the food, service and view will more than make up for it!
we come here a lot in the summer, lunch and dinner. the service and eating are always great. in a relaxed atmosphere good quality dinner is served in a wonderful location with views of the mountain. a large garden for sunny days (with a very good children's playground) and a cozy interior for rainy days. whether to walk or drive, that's worth a visit! yesterday the waiter went: “Sir, you left your sunglasses here last time.” Now this is a service!

good reception by the waiter outside on a sunny late morning, but directed towards others. bartender refused to serve the walker meal, as we do not qualify as walker, he said. our hike was only hours with a difference in height so unclear what they expect. underwhelming hospitality and bad value. fortunately, we had regulations with us, so they have a plan b when they visit this place!
La Haute Bise does a lot of traditional local specialities plus having a dish of the day. Delicious desserts! I have visited a number of times and never been disappointed. At lunchtime you can normally sit outside and enjoy the views and the mountain air...while in the evening it is cosy and intimate by candlelight. Service is efficient and friendly.
We have visited this restaurant for many times in the last years or so during summer holidays and never were disappointed. It is a bit of a drive, you need to climb to meters, but it is a great place for lunch or...dinner. Call ahead to make reservations. You can hike a bit in the area and pick blueberries.
fondue savoyade and pasta au gongozala was great after a morning from ebike in the mountains. a must visit when in the region. agreeable team of servers and beautiful view of the valley.

really nice restaurant, large selection of eat, great service, it can't fail at all. the steaks were very nice, I had the snail salad that was surprisingly beautiful
