Decided to visit what used to be an old favourite to our regret. Lunch menu is now a lot smaller than it used to be, with just the basics such as sandwiches and jacket potatoes unless you’re there on Sunday which we were. We therefore went for the lamb Sunday lunch, expensive at nearly £18 each! The plate was covered in a runny gravy, the lamb was ‘pulled’ probably to hide how small the portion was they gave you, and the veg was steamed but not enough to soften the carrots. We had a dog with us and they gave us a seat in the covered conservatory, the seats were cheap outdoor seats that made it difficult to sit forward and eat your food. We also asked for water for the dog and were told the dog bowls were outside they were bone dry. A high street cafe chain does a better welcome than here. There are plenty of places in the wider area that offer a better deal than here now, which is a shame as it used to be so good. Had a quick look round the shop and butchery whilst we were there to see the prices inflated compared to our normal shops and butchers, we won’t be returning.
