Food was very good. Atmosphere was lovely and quiet. Was with 6 people for dinner and it was very easy to talk. The service was good except they mixed up my order with someone else’s and tried to give me lasagna that I didn’t order. They made good on it though and quickly served me what I originally ordered. The dessert choices could have been better. We wanted sorbet and they didn’t have any and the ice cream choices were very basic. Would go back again because we thought the entrees were very good!
La Mensa is actually a much classier restaurant than the exterior appearance would lead one to believe. Inside is a charming and cozy dining room offering fine fare, top-notch service and a full selection of wine. We have eaten here about half a dozen times and so far, have not been disappointed. I really love this place and feel that if they upgraded the drab exterior they would get more business but I don't mind keeping this neighborhood gem to myself! .
We kicked off our evening with cocktails and appetizers. My husband chose the drunken mussels, while I indulged in the stuffed mushrooms. For our main course, we both ordered the chicken rollitini special. We finished with bread pudding and tiramisu for dessert, accompanied by a cappuccino. Everything was absolutely delicious. It's one of our favorite restaurants!
The biggest problem at La Mensa was the service. They had a party last night and did not have the service personnel to properly handle all patrons--they did have a good crowd. I personally was not impressed with the overall menu and did not think the entree I ordered lived up to their predecessors(Ragazzi). The appetizers, though, were very good.

We had the fish, while my wife ordered the gnocchi, and both dishes were outstanding and cooked to perfection. The ambiance was lovely, and the wait staff was attentive and very helpful. This was our first visit, and we will definitely return.
The owner is gracious, the service is prompt and courteous, and the portions are generous. The pastas are fresh and cooked to perfection, and the food is delicious overall. We will definitely return!
Had fish and my wife Gnocchi. Both were excellent and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was very nice and the waiting staff was very attentive and helpful. That was our first visit. We'll be back.
