We spent seven nights in Alsace while on holiday and didn't have a single bad meal, having dined in a wide range of restaurants, including several that were in an article found on Decanter's website listing what were possibly the top ten restaurants in the region, including La Nouvelle Auberge. And by the end of the meal, the four of us in our party were a heated debate of which dinner was the best. For myself, if this wasn't the best, it certainly was TIED for first place! One of my favorite things about this restaurant is that it is out of the way (about ten minutes up the Munster Valley from Turckheim) and on the Friday night we were there, it seemed to be exclusively populated with locals (my theory is that if a restaurant's client base is primarily local, it MUST be excellent or it will quickly go out of business as the locals will go somewhere else). The service was fantastic all night long - genuinely friendly and professional. And EVERY dish we enjoyed was unbelievable all the way through the evening. AND the wine list was not only excellent, but was well-priced (had an unbelievable Cote-Rotie for about 70 euros). Next time through Alsace, I will force everyone in our group to go here for dinner!

My husband And I were recommended this place by one of the wineries we had visited and it was any thing but a disappointment. The service was warm and friendly, there was an appropriate pause between courses and ambience was nice. The food was delicious. The in season white and green asparagus were just delicious and my husbands start equally as outstanding. We both had beef for the main course which was Cooke beautifully and a delicious desert again with seasonal rhubarb. We chose the €45 set menu which in a London restaurant you would only get something like this for lunch. What a bargain for what we got. The wine list is comprehensive with a good selection from the region and further afar in France . We ordered a half bottle of the Schoenheitz white for our starter as we had been there the day before and then asked for a recommendation for the red. We were recommended the Schoeheitz pinot noir as we were having red meat and the staff member told us it was excellent and that they were a local producer. Great value for money, excellent food and service, what more could you wish for

Last week we had lunch at the bistro of this restaurant, and this was an excellent experience. The place is small and was packed to capacity. Having been there we now understand why this place is so popular. We had both à la carte options and some took the set menu of the day. The menu consisted of Rillettes de Maquereau, quenelles de foie avec pommes sautées and a Panacotta orange. Everything was excellent but the Panacotta was one of the finest I ever had in a restaurant. The one lady serving the whole room did this with great professionalism combined with a friendly smile. Truly impressive to have such staff! We loved the place! And value for money cannot be beaten.

When you travel to the Alsace there are a few things that you need to try. One of those things is the traditional dish Choucroute with a glass of Riesling. This little bistro serves a daily lunch menu for 13,50. Great value for money. We also selected some of the dishes from the menu, a.o. the Choucroute. Well, make sure you are hungry and prepared to eat a serious dish. For us, the portions were too generous. The dishes are well prepared and offer you excellent value for money. Compliments also to the friendly waitress who was able to manage a full restaurant by herself!
