La Poutine - Reservar una mesa

Yesterday two of us went to La Poutine and were torn about which one to order....the server was amazing at asking us just the right questions and provided information on each of the options we were contemplating so we could make an informed choice. We shared the special of the month as titled above....it didn't disappoint and the portion was huge so sharing it was ideal! The spicy aioli with the combination of coleslaw on the poutine was perfect! It was topped with several pieces of breaded calamari that was cooked perfectly and was clearly of high quality! I told the owner I hope to be able to have it again before the special is over and was over-joyed to hear it will be a regular menu item...

I had heard about this restaurant from other sources and got an opportunity to try in the middle of a very busy day for us. I stopped by La Poutine and ordered a couple of classic poutines to take away, just fries, gravy and cheese curds. Service was fast and very friendly. We ate it without complaint, however considering poutine is the namesake of this restaurant I admit, we expected better. The fries were pretty good, the gravy was thin and tasteless and the cheese curds...well, cant really say they actually were, more like melted mozz in my opinion. Probably wont go back.

We were excited to try a new restaurant and we loved the previous location in Nipigon. We ordered the calamari poutine special. It was expensive. There were 3 pieces of heavily breaded deep fried calimari and a lot of coleslaw piled on the fries. Disappointing for sure. The veggie poutine was tastier but all the veggies were overcooked and all about the same colour. We think this will get better. But for now it wasn't the greatest experience. We know the owners will work on making the food fresh and tasty.

The poutine was great and you have to try the sugar pie for dessert. It wasn't too sweet and had a really nice balance. We tried the Montreal poutine and the siracha chicken poutine. The owner was super friendly and in point with her suggestions.

Awsome Food. Great service and nice clean dining area in a great location. You get your moneys worth thats for sure. I highly recommend you try it out when your in ThunderBay.
