The food is just about OK but not particularly appetising and the restaurant is not really worth recommending. After a couple of small salads and some rather disappointing bolets mushrooms we waited and waited for our main courses whilst at all the other tables around us there main courses were being served to people who had arrived after us.. After asking why there was this delay we were told that it was because one of the party had ordered a cote de boeuf which was causing the delay. We subsequently found out that our order had been completely forgotten and had not been placed with the kitchen. Needless to say we were not impressed particularly as we were not told the truth.!! On my first night in Lausanne I discovered a fabulous neighborhood gem. I walked from my Airbnb for the restaurant that was quickly shown to a table. My server spoke French but they brought over an English-speaking young man who assisted me with the French menu. I ordered one of their beers on draft while I looked over the menu. I decided on the Giant Grilled Prawns. It was served with Fries, and Sautéed Spinach. I had one of the Swiss white wines off of the wine menu. For dessert I chose the Mocha Parfait en Flambé. I had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant to celebrate my father-in-law's birthday. The food we tried, including the steak, pasta, pizza, and risotto, were truly delicious. The crème brûlée stood out as a highlight, a dessert that left a lasting impression. The elegant decor of the place added to the overall experience. Accueil pas très sympathique. La salade avait une feuille d'arbre ! qui de plus est était visible sur l'assiette sans besoin de fouiller. L'émincé de boeuf était vraiment très salé, la portion était petite. La pizza était moyenne, le goût plutôt fade. Je ne peux vraiment pas recommander ce restaurant. Serveurs très chaleureux, souriants et agréables. La viande était tendre et absolument délicieuse, première fois de ma vie que j'aime les choux de Bruxelles. I have been a regular customer at La Principessa since it opened some 20 years ago and have enjoyed its wood oven baked pizza, season salads, mushroom specialties, meat preparation and deserts, not to forget its excellent wines. Timely service and Italian-like interiors. Accessible by car or bus.
