We were passing through on the way south and stopped for lunch. It is just off the motorway. There is plenty of parking as it is also a hotel. The interior is nice and clean and there is a nice terrace outside. We elected to have the Menu Gourmand at Euro 35. There were no half bottles of wine so ordered a glass of red from St. Joseph. The starter was a Terrine de Fois Gras maison, with a Fig chutney. It was delicious and served with a very tasty, slightly sweet bread. The main course was a Noix de St Jacques, with a powerful sauce aux crustacés and served with the tiniest pieces of ravioli from Royans. Dessert was a Tartelette Tatin served warm with a cream of speculoos. All of it was very tasty.
closing the hotel restaurant for a money making private party inevitably means other guests/diners are inconvenienced. We were told we could have a take away delivered (a big mistake because it was dreadful). Surely the hotel management could have offered transport to a nearby restaurant at their expense. After all, when we booked the hotel, we read on the website about the gastronomique food in the hotel restaurant La Syrah. To be told when booking in at reception that we should have ben told by booking.com it was closed, doesn't solve the problem.the Hotel management caused the problem, they should have provided the solution.
I read on their site that they took into account your diet, allergies etc. I am gluten intolerant plus lactose. Not so, they just gave me the main course which was salmon with courgettes and baby carrottes which were half cooked. The plate was covered in oil with green lumps here and there!! They left out the gratin de courgettes which was the normal serving. I was served bread! I had warned them two weeks ahead. No particular attention was given to my needs! What I am saying is why offer a service if you are not up to it!! Afterall it was pricey for what you get!!
Took us completely by surprise to have a gem of a restaurant like this in a relatively modest hotel. I had a fish (see description in the photo) and my wife had the scallops. Both were cooked to perfection. This place could be a contender for a Michelin star. We had a white Cote du Rhône which was great! Will definitely return!
