La Table De Saint Goustan

We recently had lunch and selected the specials of the day. My scallops were so-so but ok. My wife’s sardines however, not only were not freshly caught, but came out on her plate in an open heated tin (can)! Please see the photo below. Never in my life had I seen such a presentation where the chef merely heated a tin of fish and served them “as is” to the customer. This is no joke — unacceptable.

We booked ahead for a table on a Saterday night. The starters were lovely (rillette and oysters) but the mains came out luke warm and had clearly been sitting under a hot lamp for ages. The fries were oily and just tasted awful, the steak was average. My partner had a good dessert but all in all it was expensive with very aerage food. The plus side is that the staff were lovely.

Everything looked great; exceptional location with an excellent location with a view of the river . The service was excellent but the special “Moules Gorgonzola” was not up to par. The beef brochette was good but the frites were stubs and over cooked. Might have caught them on a bad day...it happens.

This is a great location set in the square overlooking the river and weir. We enjoyed our Plat starters then moved onto Plat main courses followed by our desserts. Great quality and good service.

Walk up table for 4 on a busy Friday. Staff responsive and friendly who immediately dealt with our poor french language skills. Food excellent quality and value. Highly recommended.
