We were on the way to the airport and hoped to get a quick meal in Carlton. We turned the wrong way on Lygon Street and headed north (instead of south) and stumbled on La Taverna. The service was friendly and helpful, arranging tables so that we could sit our baby capsule comfortably. The food selection has some of your classic italian dishes and we settled for amatriciana as well as a chicken ceasar salad. Both dishes were very tasty, especially the ceasar salad. Prices were fair and the overall experience was very enjoyable. We had a couple of drinks as well and the total price was under $50. Definitely recommend a meal at La Taverna.
We found this little gem while staying near by, have to say it is nothing to look at and looks a tad old and run down at first but I guess this adds to its charm. we ordered garlic bread to start it arrived fairly quickly and was delicious, for our mains I ordered the tortellini Carbonara and my husband the spinach and ricotta pizza the size of the pasta size was very generous and delicious so creamy and cooked perfectly. My husband had ordered a large pizza boy did he not need this size he struggled to get through even half of the pizza delicious. great experience highly recommend, prices are reasonable aswell
Attended this vibrant and quaint restaurant last night for my nieces birthday. A little crowded because it is full of people enjoying good Italian food. Meals are large so make sure you are hungry when you go. Prices are good, staff are friendly and the place has a feel of people coming together in a relaxed environment. Recommend this place any night of the week.
This place has been pumping out great local food for years. The food is great, pizzas amazing but its the service and feel that sets this place apart. They make you feel welcome, and the owner always asks how your going. Service like this doesn't exist anymore. Must try the homemade cheesecake, its absolutely ridiculously good! Great place for a cozy night out.

This has a nice family run feel to it. The portions are a good size, we shared an entree and then a pizza and salad. The food was quite nice, not amazing but it was good value for money. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience.
Great home cooked italian food.seafood gnocci was supberb ,as was salmon fettuccine.accidentally found will return as family service was excellent.rorget about the tables and chairs you dont eat them ,food delicous.
Food here is really good especially there Parma's quite a large serving I truly struggle to finish veges are always cooked to perfection pasta
