This is one of the larger restaurants on the main square in Saint Omer. We've enjoyed eating here on previous trips and thought we knew what to expect. Sorry, but this time was not the best experience. The starter (squid) came from a supermarket and...wasn't what we had hoped, and the Pave de Boeuf was chewy and over-cooked. Mrs. S sent hers back, much to the dismay (annoyance) of the serving staff. We don't often complain, but this was one of those occasions when the food was really not in keeping with the day. Perhaps we just got unlucky... there are lots of very positive reviews on TA site, so maybe we caught teh chef on a bad day.
We chose this restaurant because it was 1. Open and 2. Not busy but the menu seemed to offer something we would enjoy. Our waiter spoke very little English, but with the help of google translate, we ordered 2 appetizers and 4 meals and all...the food was eaten an enjoyed. We are not accustomed to eating so late, we arrived at 6:30pm and there were only a few other guests, but 8pm, the place was packed. I think in warmer weather, eating outside on the patio would be lovely, as it overlooks a couple of side streets and the main parking square.
Restaurant chosen randomly, the map was pretty interesting. for me I took the trilogy of mussels, I didn't regret it. Three small pans are served: mariners, Provencals and Cream. They are mussels, a delight the quantities are generous. Fries are very good. The staff is always listening, always smiling. We loved the atmosphere we recommend it 100%.Thank you for your kindness. very good value quality price : 14 euros for trilogy.
We had to wait 1 hour before we were served. Very slow service. everything was cold when it was served. The waiter asked us for the cooking that was to be done. The meat was cold and bleeding. the rumsteck looked strangely like a tin with a bearnese sauce in a sewing dice. No accompaniment salad.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here, the scallops were delicious as was the steak. The house wine was very good. The decor was very smart, with really interesting artwork.

We both had a very enjoyable lunch. Pleasant and professional service. A very good price for what we ate. We’ll be back.
