Stumbled upon this place while in the area and was pleasantly surprised with the entire meal, service, and ambiance. We tried the arancini which were tasty. I wish there was a bit more sauce on the plate more than the decoration so I could actually taste it with the dish. I got the cacio e pepe, but also tried the ravioli and bolognese. My best friend and I went to La Tomate for lunch on 15 January 2024. We've both lived in DC for over a decade and have always wanted to try this place! We each did the lunch special, with appetizer, entree, and dessert (and added on water and 2 negronis . We really enjoyed the food! Ambience was terrific, location is excellent, table service was professional and respectful, wine list was interesting and food itelf very tasty. However, we were disappointed with the way they handled my need for gluten, soy and dairy free food, despite calling to investigate before making a reservation and being assured it would be no problem. After additional discussion with the server, one of our entrees arrived with only 2/3 of the dish on the plate due to my dietary restrictions. We grabbed a late lunch today and had a lovely meal! Quick service, nice staff, and a quaint little spot. I see a lot of people complaining about prices, but to me they are pretty on par for the area and the quality. Our lunch portion was plentiful and we left full and happy! My husband got the Spicy Calabrese with caserecce and I did the Ravioli. The flavors were explosive and full of levels. The brown butter sauce spectacular. They served our bread, which was the right amount for our party of 3 and then some. I highly recommend having a meal here!

This is one of our favs but their timing was off today. Service not great. Asked for salt pepper and olive oil. Brought it but then took it away and had to ask again. Ask the chef for olive oil over ravioli but wouldn’t make change. Might be a reason but food was good as usual. Ordered **** mary but had to ask again after dinner service began. Best before dinner or appetizer. Will continue to go back but hope the service gets back up there.
Beautiful restaurant with great service and ambiance. Great place to grab a drink, enjoy a meal, or just hang out!
Terrific place and reasonably priced. Staff is pleasant and accommodating. Will be back in April.
Amazing authentic Italian cuisine. The Cacio e Pepe is the best I’ve had in the city.
