La Vista Authentic Italian Restaurant & Cafe

This was my second visit to this restaurant (the first was approx a year earlier) and unfortunately this visit was a disappointment.On a positive the service is very friendly and quiet fast. Very genuine on the whole.Sadly though, our meals weren't great. We had the mussels and bruschetta for entree and both were far too salty. Almost too much to finish (full throat burn). We both had the prawn Napoli dish for mains and this was the same. Too much sauce, not enough prawns and again way too heavy handed on the salt. We were only in Geelong one night. We had coffee and cake here in the afternoon but had booked into another restaurant for dinner. Very nice owner who had no problem making coffee the way we wanted it (not as easy as it sounds these days! Lots of so-called baristas out there but very few who actually know about coffee!) One is usually safe choosing Italian and La Vista was no exception. We called in on our way back for breakfast and were not disappointed. We had delicious Italian omelettes and again, good coffee. Will definitely revisit if/when we have cause to visit Geelong again.

Dinner here for five adults on a Wednesday night. We all had different meals all enjoyed our meals, I had Calamari which was beautifully cooked soft and tender not at all chewy. Great view of Geelong waterfront except for window frame when seating blocks this off, when windows open in summer would be different. Staff lovely, friendly, helpful.Will definitely go back, and recommend to friends. Restaurant well set out and nice looking.Upstairs but lift available.

Not very busy for a Friday night but they have competition from many other local restaurants. Possibly doesn't help that the restaurant is on the first floor and the shop front on the ground floor doesn't appear to have any staff assigned to it. Not the best to draw in passing customers. Had a fantastic lunch experience with a group of 10. All meals were fantastic including entrees of garlic bread and bruschetta as well as all main meals. The linguine mare monti in particular was divine. The excellent service and views of the bay added to the experience and we would highly recommend. We look forward to returning ourselves.

What a little gem. Sat upstairs overlooking sea/harbour. Our waitress was so nice and helpful. Food was amazing. I had an egg dish in a pasta sauce with a side of bacon. BRILLIANT. My wife had traditional eggs and bacon but thought it was great. Highly recommend this place to everyone.

Was looking forward to going to this restaurant, but was let down with the amount of time we had to wait for our meal and when it came was so dissappointed with the size of the main. Big plate, small amount of food, very expensive. The food was enjoyable but we all left hungary.

Group of 10, Saturday 22/4/17, entrees & mains cooked to perfection, was a busy night, the whole staff FANTASTIC, the chef's had time for a chat & laugh, absolute value for money.. Will definitely return.. Reserva una mesa ahora

This is a great location....in Summer. In Winter it feels just like any other restaurant and seems to lack character. The food is good as is the service. But nothing special.

A quality meal, food excellent as was service from congenial hosts. , would highly recommend Spaghetti Marinara and food in general as authentically Italian.
