The only good thing about this restaurant is the location on the waterfront, where you have the fun of gazing at the lake and watching the passing parade. There is little else to recommend it as both the service and the food were woeful. We visited mid-week in the middle of the summer season when you would expect a restaurant to anticipate a busy service. The floor staff seemed inexperienced and disorganised and the kitchen uncoordinated, so that 2 of our dishes were served 7 minutes apart (I timed it!) and one – a green salad – never appeared at all. The pizza was soggy, lukewarm and bland. The gnocchi a la nonna was hot and had plenty of spinach, but we struggled to taste the promised gorg...
Invited here by a supplier, as it was a lovely evening in mid-June. We got a table at the outside, just facing the promenade along Lake Constance (Bodensee), enjoying the views and doing some crowd watching (the crowds were not that big, as it was out of the main season). Please do not get me wrong.We enjoyed the food at La Vita this evening.However, we didn't feel pleasant about the attitude of a male staff.1. Since we couldn't read any german, I asked him to suggest some recommendation. He was initially very friendly, then as time passes, he became very impatient. After taking our order, he was publicly saying out "OH MY GOSH". Maybe he was unpleasant about spending time on taking order but this action did not give us a good impression. 2. After reading some of the negative reviews published here there must have been a change of management or staff or whatever in recent times. We walked in here on Friday evening at s busy time without a booking and were made to feel most welcome. Our table had a great view of the lake and the alps beyond, music and atmosphere were fresh and lively, but service was what impressed us most. Because of its proximity to the waterfront and where I have been working over the weekend, I spent a lot of time at this restaurant. The food was generally good, including the canelloni, which was really good - but the service was absolutely terrible. One evening it took me 40 minutes to receive my meal (people had arrived, eaten and left while I was waiting), and when I raised the issue one of the waiters told me 'You still want the meal? You have to wait'. They clearly made a mistake, and it wasn't a huge deal, but an apology would have been nice. The food is also a little more expensive than some neighbouring restaurants.Find somewhere else on the nearby promenade to spend your money.
My wife and I had lunch on the nice coloured terrace of this Italian restaurant and enjoyed both very good different salades in combination with very tasty dressings. An excellent view to the Bodensee, all people passing by and the ferries arriving. The services are friendly and keen on signals of customers. This is by far the best restaurant on the promenade.
Indoor or outdoor seating at the far eastern end of Uberlingen, directly on the lake. My wife said that her cream of tomato soup was the best she ever ate and I felt the same way about the caneloni. Blankets were available if one felt chilled on the outdoor patio. Service was inconspicuous but adequate. Would go back just for the food.
