We wanted to celebrate the birthday of our mother in the beautiful setting in St.Jean Cap Ferrat and contacted the hotel/restaurant via email. It took way too long to answer. There was too much back and forth with the menu proposals and some difficulties to convince the person that we wanted an exchange in their proposals. We asked several times for wine proposals. We visited the place personally to discuss the details such as the outside setting, name cards, wines etc.Upon arrival (happily some of us were earlier...) the name cards were forgotten, the wine was forgotten too and thus not put to cold (of course we were told that our email with those details was never received!), on some chair...

Of course, the restaurant is an "incontournable " in St Jean and deserves its fame, but... for me and my wife "La voile d'or" is also a place to go where - after having closed shop - we can cool down with a glass of champagne (the house champagne does not leave you wanting for more renowned label: it's excellent), decide if we want to move on to a "fully-fledged" dinner or go for any of the lighter, but tasty, options from the bar menu (a suggestion: omelettes are served in different styles and are just a perfect match with champagne). All this, and especially at sunset, in a rarefied atmosphere, pampered by the personnel and the careful but unobtrusive service. Prices are at the level you c...

My wife has been going to this hotel and the restaurant for 55 years and I for 30. When she first went you would meet English actors, Jack Hawkins, David Niven and Kenneth More in the bar. The service was friendly and the food good. These standards continued throughout the 90's but since then the restaurant has been in decline. Tonight was a low point. The service was barely efficient and the food worse. The first course was meant to contain foie gras on a pastry base. My friend described it as a meat doughnut, tasting of very little. The main course was guinea fowl which was dry - the only good thing were the girolles and other mushrooms. The dessert was all right. This was made the more in...

1 star Michelin - a gastronomic restaurant in the Grand Hôtel St. Jean Cap Ferrat, located by the pool with a view of the sea below. If you happen to get to the peninsula of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, then do not deny yourself the pleasure to visit this ship of Mediterranean gastronomy. Food aswell as setting was great. The menu was very fairly priced, but we chose a la carte. And it was not cheap but also fair compared to thehigh quality. The truffle salad and apple carpaccio was with a generously amount of fresh truffle. The roastbiff was tender and the truffle mash perfectly "spiced". Cheeses was also generously served. The advice on wines was good. Service overall of high standard. And sitting at the terressa overlooking the port and the mountains made a memorable time. Enjoy!

Messages for the restaurant manager:- Your business is as good as your worst member of staff, it does not matter how classy you want to be perceived.- Your salmon should be wild or at least organic, not farmed (fatty and pale).- Please keep your opinion to yourself.- And yes, some people do not drink (wine), especially not in hot weather. So, if you are disappointed by guests who do not order wine then you should sell bottled water for £50/bottle.

The good location of restaurant is really attractive for guests! Perfect view on the sea, but " tan-catchers" from the hotel don't deliver appetite. (For dinner they open a big saloon. ) The meal was good, especially "catch of the day". There is shortage of good customer service in lunch time, but very "democratic" price.

This fantastic restaurant is part of the Hotel La Voile D'Or but can be accessed from outside. The food is very good and stuff is very friendly. The view is breathtaking especially at night when overlooking the bay and watching the firworks of Monaco in the distance. A very romantic restaurant I can advice to everyone.

The food is very good however the main course arrived a bit cold.Service however is not up to standard. Uncoordinated, a lot of young girls with no or very little experience gave a very unprofessional impression.I will come back and check because the restaurant is beautifully situated buts the only reason.
