Our guide of 5 years took time out to take my husband, our son, his girlfriend and myself to this wonderful gem in the mountains above Leutez in Megeve. We set off at 6.30pm on raquette shoes to walk to this restaurant which was about 3 kms. It was a tough walk for me but not for the others. However it was so worth it when we arrived. TheAlpage/chalet was beautiful, warm and welcoming and our guide had already chose a menu for us to eat and it was delicious from start to finish. This restaurant can only accommodate about 26 people and it was full and the only to get there is on foot. It was delightful and not expensive.
Yes this is another Megève restaurant that burned last year, but it was rebuilt rather quickly. Usually a fun experience, 45 minute walk up, fondue etc., and a sled down. But the genuineness and hospitality must’ve burned with the old place. There is no more charm as there is literally NO DECORATION, the lighting is brighter than a photo shoot, and the owner truly couldn’t care less. No smile, no genepi, NO WAY! And the fondue BEURK.
How to treat yourself easily in an idyllic place at 1300m altitude in the middle of cows and goats, everything is made home. The charcuterie and the cheeses are concocted by Mika the owner who also peasant. A very warm welcome from the boss and Meddy who will give you an unforgettable moment. Thanks again to the whole team.
A very good address in a typical setting, discovered during a family meal. Accessible on foot in twenty to thirty minutes from the parking lot of Leutaz (easyballade).
