L'auberge Du Chat Perche

This restaurant is housed in a beautiful old stone house in the centre of the superb Templar village of La Courvertoirade. It has a large stone ceilinged indoor dining room and a largish outdoor area surrounded by the village’s ancient stone houses and roofs. As a setting it is hard to beat and we elected to go for one of their summer musical evenings. The service was a little erratic at first, the waiters more interested in greeting and chatting with their friends than attending to those already seated. It took us a long time to get a first drink and, a personal gripe, both the two beers on offer were wheat beers, which I dislike. The menu looked fine, fairly typical of mid range restaurant...

We stopped in La Couvertoirade on our way from the Montpellier airport to Millau and ate here for lunch based on TA reviews. We entered through the garden door instead of the front but were greeted warmly and seated where we could see the meats being cooked on the wood-fueled fireplace. My husband ordered lamb chops with carrots, and I had a delicious Aveyronnaise saucisse accompanied by our first aligot of the trip. We found the food delicious, the service good, and the town charming.

We had a great time at the Auberge du chat perche. Great food and lovely people. Yesterday, we had lunch and could be there with our pet. Sometimes, when travelling with pets, you appreciate the opportunity to acces to restaurants with complete normality. We shared the Assortiment de tapas , then my wife had the Cotelettes d 'agneau and I had the Piece de boucher d 'Aubrac .... both cooked at the beautiful fireplace at the very same dining room. Nice place to get back soon.

We were staying overnight in the village in our Motorhome (for 4 euros) and found this great restaurant. The food was really good and the service was very friendly combining our limited French with their English. Definitely recommend the desserts, particularly the Cafe Gourmands
