Le Carre Blanc - Reservar una mesa

The restaurant is situated in a rather drab looking hotel but was reassuringly busy the lunchtime we visited. There was an amuse bouche of pea and mint in a pannacotta. It was thick and rather unappetising. Two of us had the terrine to start and it was good I had the smoked poached egg on mushrooms which was very good as was the bread. For main courses two had the entrecotes which were enormous and unexceptional, one had scallops which were OK and I had the supreme of chicken which was rather disappointing. It was nicely good and hadn't gone dry but it was a bit boring and needed a sauce. Desserts were a disaster. Three had the tarte tatin which it was not. Our daughter said it was the worst...

We have travelled through France from Roscoff it's approaching 6 weeks now we travel to France annually because we absolutely love the french cuisine. Tonight's dinner menu at the restaurant was really outstanding. Yes It's housed in a hotel on an industrial commercial shopping area bit don't let this stop you from coming here to dine as it is surberb quality cuisine. The chef is from New Zealand and actually came out to speak with us even in his busy kitchen to try to help us understand the menu when Google translate just provides the odd word. I just reviewed the restaurant as a part of the hotel review. It was a seriously pleasant surprise!! We were late, didn't have booking etc.etc.etc., didn't hope for anything good for the evening. And then this restaurant.... With service like in three stars if Michelin and food made perfectly. We were five people and everybody liked the orders; with salmon carpaccio and fish soup worth special credit!!!

We stopped there for dinner, and liked it very much. Good food, good service reasonnably priced. Desserts were ace.
